The velomobile project is my latest endeavor. I love cycling, but I am finally fed up with having to stop it during the winter and when it rains, so I have decided to build a velomobile. A velomobile is an HPV (Human Powered Vehicle) recumbent bicycle, or trike, enclosed in a fairing. It gives many advantages. Velomobiles hold the world speed record at 82.33 mph.
The plan is to design out the trike recumbent and then design the fairing afterward. The trike will be made of SL aluminum. The fairing will be molded using foam and then fiberglassed over, much like most boats are made. Finally, the fiberglass will be painted and then a clearcoat. The windshield will be manufactured by a local glass company of lexan glass.
